Joanna Kotańska

O mnie

I am a psychotherapist, sociologist and business coach. For me, psychotherapy is not just a job – it is my passion, vocation and family heritage. That every human being deserves respect, empathy, a second chance and help in recovery, family and society was taught to me from an early age by my Dad, Marek Kotanski. It was with him that I stayed in MONAR centers as a child, teenager and later as a young adult, observing his work and the work of other therapists. Very quickly I saw not only what the hell of addiction looks like, but also what the miracle of recovery looks like. In 1996 I graduated from the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw and earned a master’s degree in sociology – I studied in the specializations “Negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution” and “Therapeutic and social assistance.” I started my professional work in 1999 at the MONAR Counseling Center in Warsaw. Later I completed the TROP business trainers’ training, and a four-year psychotherapy training at the Laboratory of Psychoeducation, as well as the first and second degrees of Mentalization-Based Therapy certified by the Anna Freud Center in London. I have a certificate of training in Emotionally Based Couples Therapy (EFT), and I have also completed a workshop on working with trauma called Introduction to Somatic Experiencing (a method created by Peter Levine). I am a member of the Polish Psychiatric Society and the Scientific Society for Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

Thanks to my many years of professional experience, I know very well how trauma (PTSD), or complex trauma (PTSD), has a huge impact on all aspects of life, including the problem of addiction.

That’s why I extremely appreciate the fact that one of the pillars of the work at the Inverted Clinic is Lisa Najavits’ “Seeking Safety” program.I firmly believe that by reaching out to the causes of addiction, we are able to effectively combat it.This approach to the treatment of addiction, complemented by inpatient therapeutic work or on the online platform created by the “Reversed” Clinic, through which every patient will have the opportunity to continue therapy (we will also cover families, loved ones and co-addicts), as well as the sincere enthusiasm of the founders and the desire to expand the offer for those suffering from addictions, convinced me to join this project with great enthusiasm and high hopes.

  •  is a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist in the process of certification

Justyna Wojsiat

About me

I hold a Master’s degree in resocialization pedagogy, am a certified Specialist in Addiction Psychotherapy (certificate no. SP/1410/2017), and a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist in the process of certification. During my studies, I interned at the Monar Center in Gaudynki, where I accompanied individuals in their recovery process. I quickly realized that working with this illness is my great passion. While working at the facility, I conducted group and individual therapy, constantly learning, undergoing supervision, completing numerous internships, and implementing projects. After several years of work, I understood that addiction is only the tip of the iceberg. I wanted to help people more effectively by working more deeply, understanding not only the symptom but also the cause. I decided to deepen my knowledge in the cognitive-behavioral approach. For the past three years, I have been the head of the Ełk Center for Psychotherapy and Psychiatry. I work with both children and adults. My particular area of interest is early childhood experiences and their impact on a person’s current functioning. The therapeutic program at the ODWRÓCENI center is close to my heart.

Specialization

  • holds a Master’s degree in special education
  • is a certified Addiction and Codependency Psychotherapy Specialist
  • a couples and marriage psychotherapist
  • a psychotherapist specializing in Crisis Intervention

Agnieszka Uściłowicz

About me

I hold a Master’s degree in special education, am a certified Specialist in Addiction and Codependency Psychotherapy (certificate no. 1694), a couples and marriage psychotherapist, and a psychotherapist specializing in Crisis Intervention (trauma and domestic violence).

I began my fifteen-year experience in therapy with individuals addicted to alcohol, gambling, sex, medications, drugs, and designer drugs in a therapeutic ward for addicts in Radziejów and in a shelter for the homeless. There, I encountered a vast amount of confusion, social alienation, and personal trauma. I realized at that time how important it is to provide multifaceted support to people in difficult life situations. I accompanied them on their path to healing not only the areas affected by addiction but also sought to reach the psychological and emotional fractures related to childhood, adolescent, and adult life traumas.

I frequently wrote and participated in EU projects dedicated to individuals experiencing various forms of addiction. For two years, I worked at the County Family Support Center, where I provided support not only to those struggling with addiction but also to families caught in the cycle of codependency and Adult Children of Alcoholics. I am currently working at the Addiction Treatment Clinic in Ełk. Starting in September, I plan to expand the scope of my work by offering psychotherapeutic help to couples and marriages. The family is the place where everything that forms a person’s identity truly begins, which is why I am deeply committed to preventing potential future life tragedies.

My passion lies in everything related to the human experience, which is why I continuously strive to develop my skills. I participate in training sessions, courses, discussions, and supervision sessions that shape my therapeutic identity.

The therapeutic program at the Odwróceni Center is an ideal response to the afflictions of a lost person. I believe that by healing areas affected by trauma, we automatically heal areas wounded by addiction.
